The Space

This is not the Wanamaker Studio. And that's the whole point.

The downtown studio is a raw commercial space in the heart of Indianapolis with ceilings that stretch well above two stories. The light is different here. The scale is different. The feeling is different. If Wanamaker is intimate and layered, downtown is open, dramatic, and cinematic.

1,400 square feet of working studio space. No neighbors. No parking lot aesthetic. Just a building that gives your images room to breathe.

What's In the Space

The downtown studio is intentionally minimal so the architecture does the work.

Current features include a classic couch, a French chaise, a vintage beauty vanity, a fireplace, and an extensive paper backdrop collection. Sets are built and styled specifically for each session rather than being permanently installed — which means your session here looks like yours, not a template.

What We Shoot Here

The downtown studio is the preferred location for branding sessions, beauty and fashion portraits, editorial work, and conceptual portraits. Those well above two-story ceilings open up angles and lighting possibilities that simply don't exist in a traditional studio space.

Boudoir sessions are available here by special request. If you have a specific vision that calls for this space, bring it up during your consult and we'll talk through whether it's the right fit.

Wardrobe

The client wardrobe lives at the Wanamaker Studio. If your session is here downtown, your wardrobe consult still happens at Wanamaker before your shoot day. On session day your selected pieces travel with us to the downtown studio. You show up, everything is ready, and we get to work.

Getting Here & Parking

The downtown studio is located at 735 N Illinois St, Indianapolis, IN 46204.

Parking is metered street parking. Plan to feed the meter before your session starts and check the time on your way out. If you're not familiar with downtown Indianapolis parking, arriving 10 to 15 minutes early gives you enough time to get settled without rushing.
