Color Tips
The most important thing is to select colors that you feel confident in — colors that make you pop. My personal favorites are jewel tones. But my client wardrobe has well over 500 pieces offering variety in color and style. You don't have to figure this out alone.
Brandy's Favorites
Jewel tones — deep emeralds, sapphires, burgundy, and rich plums. They photograph beautifully across all lighting setups and pop against every skin tone.
Always Stunning
Classic black, deep red, ivory, and nude tones. Navy and burgundy are also beautiful. When in doubt, black is never wrong.
What to Watch
Fluorescent colors, turquoise, and very bright red can look almost painted on camera. Pure white can skew blue — off-white is often a better option depending on skin tone.

What to Know
Lingerie Tips
Lingerie can be beautiful and also overwhelming — especially if this is your first time wearing it outside of everyday basics. Here's what to keep in mind so you arrive feeling comfortable and ready.

Try on your lingerie AND pose in it at home before your session. A single piece can feel completely different lying down versus standing up.

Sizing varies widely by brand — especially online. The bra size you wear in one brand could be completely different in another. When in doubt, ask the associate at the counter. They are there to help.

Try something that brings you joy and confidence. If there is even the faintest bit of "maybe" when you try something on — that is the one to bring.

Unsure of your measurements or what suits your shape? Ask at any lingerie counter. They have experience matching styles to every body — and you deserve a proper fit.

If you want extra coverage around your midsection, high-quality shapewear bodysuits are a wonderful option. They photograph beautifully and so many clients love them.

Get the Fit Right
Lingerie Sizing Guide
A well-fitting piece photographs infinitely better than the prettiest piece in the wrong size. Here's how to measure accurately before you shop.
Use a flexible measuring tape. Wear a non-padded bra or nothing at all. Measurements should be snug but not compressing. Round to the nearest whole number.

Shoulders
Around the widest part of your shoulders, parallel to the ground.

Bust
Around the fullest part of your bust. Snug but not compressing.

Waist
The narrowest part of your waist — usually just above the belly button.

Hips
Around the widest part of your hips. Keep the tape level all the way around.
For bra sizing specifically: I strongly recommends a professional fitting before your session. The staff at the lingerie stores and boutiques that offer fittings are exceptionally knowledgeable — every client who has gone has been glad they did.

Body Type Guide
Every body is different — and every body photographs beautifully. These are starting points to help you find pieces that feel as good as they look. They are not rules.
Hourglass
"Your curves are not an accident. They are exactly, completely you."
Bust and hips are roughly the same size with a noticeably smaller, well-defined waist. The key is to accentuate your natural curves and highlight that waist definition.

"Your hips tell a story. Let's make sure the camera hears every word."
Hips wider than the bust and shoulders. The goal is to balance proportions by drawing attention upward while providing a comfortable, flattering fit for the hips.

Broader shoulders and bust compared to the hips. The focus is on drawing attention to the lower body and creating the illusion of a fuller hip area.

Outfit Ideas
There is no perfect outfit and no right person for boudoir. You can wear anything from a wedding veil to a white bed sheet. Use this as inspiration — then bring what feels like you.
Covers only the bottom portion of the breast, offering more cleavage while working with your natural shape. One of the most flattering bra styles on camera. Make sure the cups fit properly — and discuss your comfort level around coverage before the shoot, since the style can expose more depending on the fit.
Pushes the breasts up and increases the appearance of cleavage. Be aware that when lying down, push-ups can create an awkward gap between the bra and the breast. Brandy will let you know if adjustments are needed. Best approached with some caution depending on your chest size — it's always worth discussing what will photograph most naturally for you.
A bra without straps. Can work beautifully — usually best on smaller-chested women. Be mindful that raising the arms during posing can cause the bra to stay in place while the breast rises, which creates extra editing work. Brandy will guide posing to avoid this entirely.
A smooth, minimal bra designed to disappear under clothing. If this is what you feel most comfortable in, bring it — Brandy can easily dress it up. An off-the-shoulder top, a lace robe, or a pretty tank layered over it can make a T-shirt bra feel completely intentional and beautiful on camera.
A supportive bra with a wire sewn into the bottom of the cups. Great for women of any breast size and especially helpful for added lift. Underwires can be found in push-up, demi-cup, or simple lined cup styles — so there's a version that works for almost everyone.
Sits on the hip and fully covers the front and rear. Great for clients who want more coverage and are concerned about the stomach area. Especially effective when paired with a beautiful bra and good posing — lying on the stomach or back can be very flattering with bikini-style bottoms.
Designed to sit at the waist and look like shorts. Playful and more conservative — great if you want something that feels a little more relaxed. Brandy will pay attention to posing the hips so the shorts flatter rather than square you off. Don't expect dramatic tush shots here, but they can be genuinely cute and fun.
When in doubt, go cheeky. Shows the bottom of the tush while offering more coverage than a thong. Adds gorgeous shape to your bum and looks amazing on every body type. By far the most popular option in studio — and a great rule of thumb for any non-bodysuit look.
Everything old is new again. High-waisted bottoms slim the stomach and create incredible curvature — and the cheekie cut especially highlights your assets in the most flattering way. A vintage style that mixes beautifully with modern lingerie and photographs with real dimension.
Minimal fabric in the back. A thong has a thin back, a G-string has even less, and a Brazilian cut has similar exposure but slightly more fabric. All three work beautifully in boudoir — though more coverage is often sexier than you'd expect. Great to bring as an option alongside something with a little more shape.
A short, sleeveless, loose-fitting nightgown — often with formed cups and a flowing skirt that falls between the upper thigh and belly button. Can be sheer, lacy, or slit up the middle for more skin. Best when there is visible body through the fabric. A slip is often a more flattering alternative if you're looking for coverage, since babydolls can add visual volume.
A close-fitting, one-piece stretch garment. One of Brandy's absolute favorites to photograph — incredibly flattering on every body type. Look for high-cut leg openings to make your legs look longer and leaner. A smaller amount of fabric in the back makes your tush look full and beautiful. Available in sheer, opaque, low-cut, and sleeveless — there are endless variations to play with.
Always has a built-in bra. Boosts the bust rather than cinching the waist. Typically shorter than a corset, ending just above or at the waistline. Usually less constricting than a traditional corset because it uses stretch panels and soft plastic boning. A great option if you want structure and support without the full waist-cinching effect.
Cinches the waist and creates a dramatic hourglass shape. The best corsets are made with steel boning — the more well-made, the more curvy the result. Most overbust corsets don't have cups, so they can minimize the chest. If you want more bust definition alongside the waist, consider a bustier or hybrid style instead. Incredibly flattering for curves and for anyone concerned about their midsection.
Usually features a beautiful pattern that runs all the way up to the neckline. Modest yet completely captivating — a great choice if you want impact without full exposure. Especially beautiful on women who love their collarbone and neckline.
The best of both. Looks like a lace-up corset but is constructed more like a bustier — so it has cups for the bust. Gives you a slimmer waist AND the boosting advantage of built-in cups. Usually more affordable than a traditional corset and incredibly flattering. A great first choice if you love the corset look but want more breast definition.
Gives the feeling of lounging at home. Playful slipped off the shoulders, or worn without a bra underneath to leave something to the imagination. A lace robe is also one of the most versatile studio staples — beautiful over a bra-and-panty set, and elegant on its own with just a great necklace.
A one-piece outfit that looks like shorts and a top combined. A great alternative to a babydoll for someone wanting more coverage — because it fits the body rather than floating away from it. Look for rompers with elastic at the waist for some shape. Many are very short, which is flattering on the tush and great for boudoir.
Tight-fitting undergarments designed to shape and support. Many lingerie companies now design shapewear that is both functional and beautiful. Because shapewear is typically made of opaque material, it provides heavier coverage — great for stretch marks or scars you'd rather not show. It also makes the body look incredible by showing off your shape without revealing everything.
The perfect play between covered and not hiding. Sheer outfits let you embrace your body and express your style in the same breath. Gorgeous in natural light, and endlessly versatile across body types.
Modern slips are nothing like the undergarments of decades past. Think of them as mini dresses — often with built-in cups, available in sheer, lace, or silk. A great choice for someone who wants to be a little more conservative while still showing some skin. Shorter slips make the legs look longer. Some have built-in garters, which look gorgeous with or without stockings.
A one-piece garment that covers the torso and crotch — similar to a bodysuit but typically more sheer and definitely sexier. One of the most universally flattering styles in boudoir. Many teddies are sheer, which hides flaws while giving a gorgeous peek at the body underneath. Look for styles with built-in cups for added breast support. Some have garter straps attached, which look amazing even without stockings.
Never underestimate the classics. Hundreds of styles exist — and this is a great opportunity to bring some color into your wardrobe if you usually default to black. Brandy may suggest going beyond a T-shirt bra to something meant to be seen — a demi-cup, a lace bralette, or something sheer.
Vintage-inspired lingerie tends to be slightly more covered and discreet — great if you're concerned about the stomach or chest area. High-waisted undies are a perfect example: a vintage style that photographs beautifully in a modern portrait and mixes well with contemporary pieces. Just be careful that it doesn't cross into costume territory.
Structure and edge. A fitted blazer over nothing but a bra creates a look that is simultaneously powerful and feminine. One of the most versatile pieces you can bring.

A great way to ease into your shoot if lingerie still feels a little intimidating. Tells the story of the start of a date. When you slip it off, the next set begins beautifully — a natural and stunning page transition in your album.
Does wonders for your shape and is naturally suggestive. Try loose, tight, cutout in the back, different lengths. Mix with a lacy thong or high socks for a fun, creative look. There's a version that will surprise you.

A belt worn around the waist or hips with attached fasteners to hold up stockings. Most clients have never put one on — and that is completely fine. Brandy helps. Important: stockings with rubber grip inside are NOT meant for garters. Look for stockings without the rubber lining.

A woman's neck and jawline are beautiful. Pulling your hair back exposes that and gives you a completely different look for a set or two — a nice variation mid-session that takes two seconds to pull off.
Versatile and textural. A silk scarf draped or tied can create a look that is at once classic and unexpectedly sensual — especially beautiful when used for movement in a shot.
Pull up to the thigh and can be worn with or without a garter belt. Size carefully — too small and they will squeeze the thigh and create an unflattering line. Darker stockings can also visually cut the leg. Feel free to go beyond standard black.
Unexpected and incredibly photogenic. Create natural vertical lines down the body and pair beautifully with high-waisted bottoms or just lingerie.
Soft, flowing, and endlessly versatile. Draped loosely or wrapped close, they create beautiful movement and texture in every frame.
Boudoir bridal does not require a veil as the focal point. There are so many beautiful white pieces that give the bridal look without any of the cheesiness. Congratulations, by the way.

Also in this category: converse sneakers, knit stockings, or anything else that expresses your personality in a way that feels unmistakably you.

The studio wardrobe is feminine-focused, so for masculine and gender-expansive looks, please bring your own pieces. Solid colors in dark neutrals photograph best. Fit matters more than brand. When in doubt, send a photo ahead and Brandy will let you know if it will work on camera. Anything from the Casual or Accessories categories can be mixed in freely.
The masculine counterpart to cheeky panties — and just as photogenic. Fitted boxer briefs in a solid dark color (black, charcoal, navy) are a go-to for good reason. They're flattering, comfortable, and give the camera something clean and strong to work with. Avoid loose boxers, which add bulk and don't photograph well.
Cleaner and more minimal than boxer briefs — great for a sleeker, more editorial look. Trunks offer a little more coverage than briefs while still keeping the lines sharp. Solid colors only. This is one of the most impactful looks in terms of highlighting physique and confidence.
Bold, edgy, and stunning on camera. A jockstrap says something — and it says it without apology. If this feels like you, bring it. It photographs with a lot of power and edge, especially paired with boots or leather straps from the Accessories category.
A well-fitted pair of dress pants with nothing on top is one of the strongest masculine looks in boudoir — classic, powerful, and undeniably confident. Dark, solid colors work best. The fit has to be right; pants that are too loose or too long will undercut the whole look. Pair with boots or go barefoot for completely different energy.
The masculine version of the button-up shirt — and every bit as versatile. Worn open with dress pants, with boxer briefs, or on its own. The unbuttoning creates movement and suggestion without revealing everything. Solid colors or very subtle textures only — bold patterns compete with the person wearing them. This is one of the most consistently beautiful sets regardless of body type.
A well-fitted suit jacket worn open — with nothing underneath, or over a fitted tee — photographs with incredible authority. Structure and edge in one piece. This also works beautifully for gender-expansive clients layered over lingerie or worn with high-waisted bottoms from the feminine wardrobe. The contrast is powerful.
Simple, clean, and completely effective. A fitted solid-color tee — especially in black, white, or charcoal — gives the camera something to work with while keeping the focus on you. Great as a session opener that transitions naturally into other looks. The key word is fitted — an oversized tee hides the body rather than expressing it.
Compression shorts, fitted tanks, athletic briefs — if this is the context in which you feel most powerful in your body, bring it. Solid colors only, and avoid anything with large logos or graphics. Athletic wear works best when it's fitted and intentional, not like you grabbed it from the gym bag. This is the "everyday you" version of the session — which is sometimes the most honest and most powerful one.
Some of the most powerful sessions come from the unexpected pairing of masculine and feminine pieces — a suit jacket over lingerie, boxer briefs with heels, suspenders with nothing else, a fitted blazer and a lace skirt. If your expression lives somewhere between categories, bring pieces from both and Brandy will help you find the combinations that feel most true to you. There are no rules here.
