A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY
Boudoir tends to come with a whole lot of assumptions, and in my experience on both sides of the camera, most of them are dead wrong.
Many of my first-time clients discover boudoir during a meaningful season or chapter, where something is shifting.
Some are marking a milestone. Some are experiencing a life change like divorce, motherhood, or an intense medical journey.
Many have been putting others first for a very long time, and a few are already in that space of becoming where they are empowered by the idea of a new experience.
Boudoir checks different boxes for each of us and is ultimately so much more than a sexy photo session.

What Is Boudoir Photography?
Boudoir photography is an intimate portrait experience that is absolutely rooted in your personal presence and autonomy.
Meaningful self-expression is the goal, and as your photographer, I’m the guide that gets you there. This is all about you and owning the chapter you are living right now.
We’re not here for one body type, look, or emotional tone.
You might bring your soft and reflective side. Or maybe you’re embracing the bold and edgy. Whatever the vibe, the goal is empowerment.
Boudoir Beyond the Lingerie
As your photographer, my goal is to help you feel held, guided, and seen throughout your shoot and in the resulting images.
Sure, some of it is sexy, but here’s what nobody tells you…
The experience of getting there is deeply, uncomfortably, beautifully human, and that’s actually the entire point.
Your wardrobe for your boudoir shoot may include:
delicate lace pieces
flowing robes and wraps
cozy oversized sweaters
bridal lingerie and veil details
personal heirlooms
sentimental jewelry
soft draping fabrics
elevated everyday intimates
textured layers like satin, silk, or knit
casual undergarments
ties, hats, suspenders, and other accessories
Boudoir shoots blend the fabrics you wear with backdrops, props, and lighting styles that create visually stunning photos…not to mention that guidance and technical skill from behind the camera.
There’s no wardrobe in the world that can replace the value of a collaborative boudoir photo shoot with a skilled photographer.
In your shoot, we’re working together to pose and position you in the ways that show off your gorgeous figure. You are never in this alone.
Marking an Important Chapter with a Boudoir Shoot
Boudoir is often about honoring a life moment, and that adds another layer to the experience.
You may find yourself exploring Boudoir because of:
a wedding
a birthday
a new season in life
a recovery after loss
stepping into a new chapter
stepping into fuller ownership of self
Your images can say so many things about you. They can be bold or quiet, maybe deeply reflective or playful.
I’ve heard boudoir explained as escapism, but I’d push back on that. When a session is performed with empowerment in mind, the goal becomes honoring who you are. You’re not escaping life. You’re finally showing up for it.

Who Is Boudoir Photography For?
Boudoir in my studio has never been about body type. Boudoir is about people, and it’s for anyone and everyone who is in the midst of becoming and being and embracing their true selves.
Is boudoir for you? Hell. Yes.
Boudoir for Milestones and Life Changes
The boudoir experience is for:
the soon-to-be bride
the empty nester
the newly divorced
the person honoring scars
the one learning to stand taller again
the one who never thought they would do something like this
Boudoir for the Person Ready to be Seen
You do not need a certain shape. You do not need a certain age. You do not need to wait until you feel ready.
Courage comes before confidence, every single time. You only need the willingness to show up.
What Happens During a Boudoir Session?
One of the biggest hesitations for beginners is not knowing what to expect. Uncertainty is exactly why the experience is so intentionally guided.
I created Enchanted Moments Artistry to be a space designed around comfort, reflection, and presence, where every person feels welcome and assured that they can do this.
Before the Camera Comes Out for Your Boudoir Session
We’ll begin our time together with a consultation that sets your expectations and answers those burning questions.
Before your shoot, you have a chance to see my studio and some wardrobe selections so that, on the day, you can begin the process with some peace of mind.
Questions are naturals, so are doubts. We work through all of that together.
You’ll arrive to prep for your session to:
a personalized welcome experience
beverages and studio tour
robe selection based on comfort
hair and makeup
guided wardrobe support
a curated playlist of your favorite music for the shoot
The time between your arrival and the first shoot is full of those emotional ups and downs that come with any new experience, and your beautiful self deserves to feel as at ease and in control as possible.
Your Boudoir Shoot Support & Guidance
Once you’re in front of the camera, very little is left to chance. I’m here to guide you through body positioning and the entire process.
We allow for those natural and candid moments while taking full advantage of everything I’ve learned about posing, lighting, and body movement to create photos that showcase what’s uniquely you.
Throughout the shoot, you’ll have access to camera preview of different poses. I want you to see what I see and how what we’re doing in front of the camera translates to the final product.

What Should You Wear to Your Boudoir Shoot?
This is always one of the first questions almost everyone asks, and my answer is less about the fabric and more about the things that are fabulously specific to you.
Choose a Boudoir Wardrobe that Feels Like You
When you’re considering your wardrobe, understanding what feels aligned to the parts of you that you wish to honor is the first step.
Just as important? Make sure it’s comfortable enough to be bearable during a long shoot. Find your fit, your style, and your preferred fabrics, especially if it’s your first time in a boudoir photo shoot.
For you, that might be:
the lingerie set that makes you feel powerful
a silk robe that sits luxurious against your skin
Yours or your partner’s button-down shirt
a favorite bodysuit that hugs you beautifully
bridal pieces
jewelry that carries meaning
something soft, cozy, and completely you
a piece that makes you feel unexpectedly bold
The wardrobe consultation is intentionally part of the process because what you wear should support how confident, empowered, and undeniably sexy you feel. I’ve curated 900+ pieces in my collection, sizes XS to 6XL, to give you room to find the right pieces to satisfy (or supplement) your boudoir session wardrobe.
Perfection is a Construct
Our goal in such an intimate photo shoot is never society’s idea of perfection. Your body tells a story, and that is a different sort of perfection.
Perfectly imperfect is more powerful anyway. Often, the pieces that feel most like you create the most meaningful images.
Do You Need to Wait Until You Feel More Ready?
No. And this part matters, because the reasons to wait don’t always hold up on your journey toward becoming.
So many people think they need to wait:
until life settles down
until they feel more confident
until the weight changes
until the body is toned
This Season in Your Life Counts
The boudoir experience is meant for this version of you, not the one you hope is coming next. The you standing here now is absolutely worthy, in this season, in this chapter.
Waiting until you’re ready often means another year passes the same way, and you deserve this now.
OR
Waiting until you’re ready often means another year passes the same way, and you don’t want that.
You do not need fixed.
You do not need to hide.
You were never meant to be smaller.
Boudoir sorts through those excuses and points to empowerment and owning where you are right now. Your body has held you this long, and what a story it has to tell.

Next Steps in Scheduling a Boudoir Session
Boudoir so often begins with uncertainty, but the potential for meaningful experiences is immeasurable.
Making the call, taking the step, that’s the threshold for you, you beautiful human. Everything past that is layered in support and inspiration.
Not confidence or a smaller body.
Not a better version of yourself.
Just the willingness to stop waiting.
Everything past that? That’s why you chose me.
OR
Making the call…taking the step…that’s the threshold. You don’t need anything else to get the most out of your boudoir experience.
You don’t need confidence. You don’t need a different body.
There’s no better version of yourself that is required to show up.
Stop waiting. Be willing, And show up as the beautiful human you are.
Everything past that? That’s on me.
I've been the woman in that car who almost turned around. I know exactly what it costs to walk through that door anyway. And I know what's waiting on the other side of it.
